George Meanwell - Cello
In the late 1970's, George Meanwell was guitarist and vocalist with the Toronto acoustic folk trio Short Turn. After a number of years as an orchestral cellist, he was until 2002 Quartetto Gelato's cellist, guitarist and mandolinist in concerts throughout North America, Europe and Asia. Since then he has returned to songwriting, releasing three albums the most recent of which is "The Easy Straight" recorded in Stratford in 2012. Also in Stratford, he appeared on stage playing a variety of instruments in As You Like It, Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris, The Grapes Of Wrath, and The Pirates of Penzance. As well, he supplied cello and mandolin for Sylvia Tyson's recent release Joyner's Dream.
